“And this is so terrible,” interjected the pastor, “that you just assume God might by no means forgive you?”
“That is it, Pastor. How might He ever forgive such a terrible sin!”
The pastor glanced at the Bible in her hand, then mentioned, “Might I see your Bible?”
She handed it to him and he turned to I John 1:9 and asked her to read.
“If we confess our sins, he’s devoted and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Then the type pastor continued. “You see, Mrs. Smith, when God has already forgiven us our sins, we fall into the satan’s hands if we proceed to sentence ourselves. It’s Christ who died for those sins, and His atonement is the premise for all forgiveness. To hold our guilt after we have now confessed our sin is to dishonor Christ.
